Description

Original painting, signed on the front. Acrylic on canvas. 100 × 70 cm. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
This painting was begun in front of the Prado Museum during a live broadcast on Spanish National Television (TVE) on July 4, 2026, and completed a few weeks later in my studio. In El Greco’s original painting, the gesture of the hand placed over the chest is commonly interpreted as a symbol of honour and integrity. In my version, I wanted to expand that meaning: masculinity can also be expressed through tenderness and vulnerability. The figure embracing him from behind further introduces the symbolism of companionship and offers an openly queer interpretation of the work.
